Nike A.I.R _ Nike innovation / Conceptual Footwear Design
Athletes, Innovation, Revolution. Nike A.I.R Project was debuted for Nike at Paris Olympics Media events. We chose 13 nike athletes from different sports categories and nationalities, and made their dream real.
I was leading the design for Qinwen Zheng, Olympic gold medalist in Paris 2024;
concept direction for Faith Kipyegon and final visualization direction for all 13 athletes.
Zheng Qinwen
In Qinwen’s design, Air is both all-encompassing and precisely tuned. The Air unit coils completely around the shoe’s forefoot and midfoot with a serpentine construction inspired by the Chinese lunar calendar’s Year of the Dragon. In areas needed for extreme lateral containment, the traction is reinforced by a pattern computationally modeled after dragon scales. The stippled texture of the collar is designed after the bone structure of real wings.
